Sustainable pathways towards net zero Switzerland

The joint initiative SPEED2ZERO contributes to halving greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, preparing the infrastructure needed to achieve this, building a resilient energy system and safeguarding biodiversity.

SPEED2ZERO aims to connect disciplines and institutions of the ETH Domain with private industry, government and policy, aiming to build a community of experts and stakeholders. The consortium is represented by ETH Zurich including its centres C2SM, ESC, MaP, and CFSM, external page WSL, external page EPFL, external page Eawag, external page PSI, external page Empa, and external page SDSC. The project is sponsored by the ETH Board.

The project will focus on the areas of net zero greenhouse gas emissions, energy, biodiversity, and climate change.

Final Event SPEED2ZERO

The SPEED2ZERO Final Event took place on Friday, 23 January 2026 in Bern. The project team presented and discussed key findings from three years of interdisciplinary research on climate, energy, biodiversity, and related societal and political questions.
