Swiss climate scenarios
Swiss climate scenarios - overview
The development of climate scenarios for Switzerland started almost three decades ago[1]. The first comprehensive national report CH2007[2] was published in 2007, followed by a second report in 2011 (external page www.ch2011.ch), and seven years later by the Swiss climate scenarios CH2018[3]. In 2025, the newest generation of Swiss climate scenarios was published, as a result of the project "Klima CH2025".

Klima CH2025 project
Aim
The aim of the Klima CH2025 project was to build upon and extend the CH2018 scenarios to create an updated set of Swiss climate change scenarios providing information to Swiss policymakers in accordance with the National Adapation Strategy of Switzerland to be updated after 2025. Specifically, the new edition of climate scenarios seamlessly connect information on past, present, and future climate change in Switzerland.

Swiss Climate Scenarios of 2025
The latest generation of Swiss climate scenarios expands on previous ones with longer measurement series, improved process understanding and information from new, high-resolution climate models that allow for convection. In addition, the current MeteoSwiss reference period 1991–2020 was used and future scenario information was provided on the basis of global warming levels (GWLs). Detailed information on heavy precipitation and heat in urban areas was also compiled. In line with the rapid warming observed, the new scenarios show higher warming than previous projections.
The Swiss climate scenarios are published on the website of the Swiss Federal Office for Meteorology and Climatology MeteoSwiss: external page www.climate-scenarios.ch
